The Prize for protection of cultural and historical heritage

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is this year’s bearer of the Prize for protection of cultural and historical heritage. The award is given within the only in Bulgaria reenactment festival Eagle On The Danube, which is held in the town of Svishtov.

The award was founded during last year’s second edition of the festival. Its first prize-winner was Prof. Bojidar Dimitrov. In 2010, the Minister in charge of the Agency for Bulgarians Abroad is the chairman of a commission that chose the current Prime Minister as the next bearer of the award. The prize is given to Mr. Borissov for government’s successful policy in protecting historical monuments and the actions against illegal traffic of antiques and treasure-hunting.
